Threadmaster Rod Varnish is a self-levelling rod finish which can be used on blanks and guides. It gives a smooth clear gloss finish which is flexible and tough resisting scuffs and scratches. It is a water based one part varnish which requires no mixing.

It is easy to use and the key to a quality pro finish is to apply multi thin coats rather than a single thick coat. It is fairly quick drying so only pour out a small amount at a time to prevent it from starting to set before you apply it to the rod. Being water based means it is easy to clean up using water and brushes can also be quickly cleaned under the tap. A good quality small flat brush helps to get a smooth finish and cleaning the brush regularly helps to reduce build-up of varnish in the bristles which can impair the quality of the finish.
